(No National Text Forecast Available) Here in the Sunflower state, I generally expect to see warmer than average temperatures, with many days having highs in the 50s, 60s, and later on possibly even 70s or higher towards the end of March. Of course, here in there, there is the probability of some cooler days. Below is the Snowfall Probability Forecast.

(No National Forecast Available) Overall for Kansas, I believe Winter is over. However, as shown above, I am still giving a slight chance for some more snow this season, through March 31st. This is because, I do believe, even though all we will likely really be seeing through the next few weeks will be spring showers and storms and warm temperatures, here in Kansas, you NEVER can tell for sure what the weather will be like! One day, it could be 80, and the next it could be 10 and a blizzard! And that’s exactly why I did this. I do see a chance for there to be one of those quick hit and run blizzards that occur every few years during the Spring. Whether this actually happens for us or not, that’s something we’ll just have to wait and see on!

I just made this video as a tribute to Greensburg and their five year anniversary since the F-5 Tornado that destroyed the small Kansas town. Now, nearly five years later, the town has been rebuilding, and many people have moved back. Their motto is “REBUILDING… STRONGER, BETTER, GREENER” The downtown area is already filled in completely with new buildings in one area, including the city hall, library, and a little strip mall, banks, and a few other buildings. As you can see, we expect above normal temperatures to continue in the Southern parts of the US, and also it looks as if colder conditions will be likely across the Pacific Northwest and up into the Great Lakes Region. Elsewhere we expect temperatures will be around average, with a few cold outbreaks in areas. Here in the Hays area, I expect we will generally be around average on temperatures, with a few cold swings here and there. I am not going to say much on precipitation until stuff becomes more clear, BUT, I DO still believe we may see AT LEAST one to two more snowstorms here in the state of Kansas through April. Outlook for the rest of January: Overall warmer and drier than average. There may be a few quick cold snaps here and there with highs in the upper 20s-30s, but overall your average highs here in Hays should be in between 40-55. The threat for snowstorms has dropped big time. I DO NOT presently see the potential for more than 1-3″ in Hays through the end of January. I really don’t even see the chan…ce for rain. February is still up in the air. March, I believe, will be very cold compared to normal. Overall, for the rest of the Winter, I do see the potential for possibly ONE-THREE more snowstorms, small or big, to hit the Hays area through April 1st. If the weather we are having right now continues, as it is for the next few weeks at least, all I can say, IS BRING ON SEVERE WEATHER SEASON!!! I do still hope for AT LEAST one more big snow though!

Okay… I know a few weeks ago I said that Winter had not even started yet, and it was going to get extremely cold and snowy. Then last night I disagreed with my earlier statement due to new forecasts, saying Winter was practically over for the rest of January into early February. As we all know, the weather keeps changing, all the time, and well, it just did, the forecasts I mean. It now looks like there may be a turn around sometime mid-late week next week with some cold and snow. Don’t hold me to this though, as it’s still a week out! We’ll see though, because I’d sure like to see some snow! After then I’m still up in the air on how Winter will be.

IF we get this cold/snow pattern change next week, I expect the highest chance for snow accumulations will be in between Monday night-Thursday night.
